If You are a slow traveler like we are and stay in an area for an extensive period of time, you know how important it is to get around and have a mean of transport for everyday business (to go to the store, market, pharmacy, get your nails done, or even go to the beach or go on a tour- you know what I am talking about). Thailand is a place where the main mean of transport is a scooter. We have rented a scooter in Ao Nang for a month and this article is about our experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First and foremost, when we were in Ao Nang, we were 3 adults and 3 kids. So scooter was definitely for everyday errands like going quickly to 7 Eleven, market, store or my husband would make 3 trips to take us to the beach. Only once me and my husband went to Krabi town and that was the longest trip we did with a scooter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To rent a scooter in Thailand you have to have international driver’s license- which they did not check when we rented our scooter, but I am sure it is very important for the police in case you get stopped. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lot of places ask for a deposit (typically 3000 THB) and a copy of your passport or keep your passport if you do not want to leave a deposit (leaving a deposit is way better than leaving a passport in my opinion).
